Road to Bacolod City
Do everything with passion. It's my first time to visit Negros Occidental specifically in Bacolod City. I was so excited when my friend invited me or included me with the plan of going to the city. This has been planned for a month and thank god I finally made it. Bacolod City has been called as "City of Smile" and I wonder when or how was it happen.
Here's a quick facts from history of Bacolod City:
Bacolod City, is a highly urbanized city in the Philippines.[5] It is the capital of the province of Negros Occidental where it is geographically situated but governed administratively independent from it.
It is notable for its MassKara Festival held during the third week of October and is known for being a relatively friendly city, as it bears the nickname "The City of Smiles".

The good thing about this trip is that I was able to experience their Annual festival which is called "Masskara Festival". As what they say, the festival is not that really religious, however, it's a celebration of having the freedom and showing the genuine smile of what the Bacolod really is.

The Masskara 2017 has multiple program that was held from designated venues. Just like Sinulog in Cebu, it is also a colorful and full of fun celebrating the annual occasion. Costumes, parties, games, and a lot more to witness if you come to visit the festival. What makes it really different is that the highlight of the festive, the amazing designs of mask added its trademark to the city. They used masks as a symbol of the genuine smile of the people in Bacolod City.
Since we only visit Bacolod just because of Masskara, we haven't got a chance to visit some of the tourist spots. The weather is also bad that makes you feel lazy going out. Please see my other post for #MasskaraFestival2017 for more photos.
My first time in Bacolod is really peak season so as expected, accommodation rates went higher. We only had a land/sea trip thru Ceres Bus Liners and it was a long travel going there and going back home. Well, even though there's rain and so crowded, I still even get a chance to visit the City hall, Government Center, Plaza, and some places within the city.
I was also able to visit the Campuestohan Highland Resort - one of the spot to visit in Bacolod. Its quite far from the city, but the its worth to visit and relax with your friends or family. They actually have multiple activities and accommodations to offer. They also have day tour which only costs 150 pesos per person. Please see my other post for Campuestohan experience for more info.

My overall Bacolod City trip is so good. Being with friendly people is one factor of this amazing trip. Looking forward to travel with them in the future.
- Some points
Bacolod City is so easy to visit since they have their Airport and it can also be done through land or sea. You just need to know the convenient schedule for you so that your trip will be more fun and memorable. Take time to research and ask if you don't have any idea of the place. There are lots of affordable hotels/accommodations in the area so you can just do walk-in or its better to book it online prior to your arrival.
